Sep 09 - RG Soldier Wins Army Sports Lottery
Royal Gibraltar Regiment soldier, LCpl Nicolas Mauro, won the top prize of £10,000 in the British Army Sport Lottery this week.
LCpl Mauro explained that he had been playing the Army Sports Lottery for around five years now and I only really decided to join because one of our Sergeants had a win.
The Army Sports Lottery aims are to support a number of Army Sporting initiatives including Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth Games and other International Competitors, Army Winter Sports Activity Competitions and Individual officers, soldiers and teams who undertake authorised overseas tours and visits.
Lt Col Ivor Lopez commented on the matter with, ‘I’m really delighted that a prize has come to a member of our Regiment, it’s not the first time we have won but it is the first time we have taken the first prize in the Lottery, it just goes to show the great opportunities that are out there.’
