Four new recruits from the Royal Gibraltar Regiment recently completed their passing out at the Infantry Training Centre (ITC) in Catterick.
The four included, Pte Jordan Ratchford aged 18, Pte Callum Kirslake also aged 18, Pte Kieran Lang aged 17 and Pte Shane Bettsworth aged 27 have all successfully completed their 26 week Combat Infantryman Course. All infantry soldiers in the British Army must complete the course, which teaches soldiers a gamut of skills from war-fighting tactics through to ceremonial drill. It is designed to ensure that the newly qualified solider is fully prepared to join their chosen unit and is ready for operational deployment.
Pte Bettsworth was awarded the prestigious title of “Soldier’s Soldier” from the course, as voted by the other recruits in his platoon.
