July 01 - Police Authority Annual Report
The members of the Gibraltar Police Authority (GPA) were recently invited by the Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) Senior Management Team to a presentation where they set out the extent to which the targets set in their Annual Policing Plan for the year ended 31 March 2013 had been met. Having analysed the data contained in the RGP's self-assessment of the Annual Policing Plan the GPA has now, in accordance with the provisions of Section 10 of the Police Act 2006 the Gibraltar Police Authority (GPA), produced its Annual Report for the policing year in review.
The report contains an overview and an assessment prepared by the Authority, a detailed analysis of the performance of the RGP in meeting each of the targets and measures of the Policing Plan for the year 2012-2013 prepared by the RGP and tables containing the crime statistics for the year.
The newly appointed GPA Chairman, Mr John Gonçalves, stated, ‘I am happy to present this Annual Report and I encourage all members of the public to read the report in full as I believe it provides a very accurate, interesting and encouraging picture of the work of the RGP here in Gibraltar.’
The GPA has sent the Annual Report to the Governor, the Chief Minister, the Minister for Justice and the Commissioner of Police, in accordance with the provisions of the said Act.
The Report will be laid before Parliament by the Chief Minister in due course, at a future sitting of Parliament. At that point, the GPA will make the Report available to the general public. Any member of the community wanting a copy of the Report can contact the GPA offices on 200 40918 between the hours of 0900hrs and 1500hrs or via email on info@gpa.gi. Alternatively the Annual Report will be posted on the GPA website www.gpa.gi
