June 10 - National Association of Police Well-Being Advisers
The Annual General Meeting of the National Association of Police Well-being Advisers, NAPWA, was held on 3rd June in Oxford in the United Kingdom.
At the meeting current Chairman the Royal Gibraltar Police’s PC Henry Sacramento was re-elected as Chairman for a further year.
The new proposed constitution was also voted on and passed to better reflect the association’s present role. This together with the organisation of a training day, which was successfully held in October of 2012 with the theme “From Stress to Success”, were the two targets set by the association’s committee for the year. Both of which were therefore met.
Following the Annual General Meeting delegates were addressed by Clinical Psychologist, Vicki Hastings. She spoke on The Application of Trauma Risk Management To a Post Critical Incident. (The Cumbrian Shootings).
On the 4 June a workshop was delivered by Rose Dixon and Marie Ellis both from the UK organisation Support after Murder and Manslaughter, SAMM.
The workshop explored ways for dealing with traumatic bereavements.
In addition to PC Sacramento there were a number of other Gibraltar delegates: Mr Alfred Rovegno, of the City Fire Brigade, Mr Alex Macdonald, of HM Customs and Maria Elena Macias of HM GoG’s Human Resources Department.
