The Department of the Environment will once again be taking part in the World Environment Day (WED) celebrations today.

WED is the United Nations flagship environmental event, celebrated in more than 100 countries around the world. It is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment whilst advocating political attention and action. WED has now become an annual feature in the Department’s agenda and this year’s theme focuses on trying to minimise food waste. Middle schools and primary schools will take to the stage in the Tercentenary Sports Hall today to emphasise, in their own unique way, how we can ‘think, eat and save’ to help minimise the amount of food waste generated in Gibraltar.
