May 10 Police Trainees
The Royal Gibraltar Police has announced that the six Police Trainees recruited as a result of the joint initiative between the Police and the Ministry for Enterprise, Training and Employment continue to progress through their training programme. Since they joined the organisation in April of this year, they have been receiving instruction and lectures from Police Training Staff, Senior Management, the Gibraltar Police Authority and the Police Council.
The trainees have completed four of the first five weeks of basic training prior to deployment to the Headquarters Division. They have had lessons in criminal liability and law, crime and property procedures, radio procedure, communication skills, first aid at work, Criminal Procedure Codes of Practice and command and dispatch.
In the next week, explain the RGP, they will receive instruction on unarmed defence training, scenes of crime and traffic management. Following this they will be deployed to the Headquarters Division where there will support police staff on counter duties at New Mole House and Central Police Station, Command and Dispatch Unit, Custody, File Preparation Unit and Stores.
They will then return to the Training Department for 2 weeks and join the forthcoming recruit school for further crime training. After this they will be deployed to operational duties where they will accompany and act in support of police constables.
