Mar 25 - First Monarch Flight from Birmingham Celebrated
Monarch’s Inaugural flight from Birmingham to Gibraltar was met by Minister for Tourism Neil Costa, along with members of the Tourist Board, including Miss World 2009, Kaiane Aldorino and the Re-Enactment Society, on Saturday morning.
The flight is set to operate between Gibraltar and Birmingham on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays up until the end of April when it will run Sundays instead of Saturdays.
Aboard the flight was Chief Executive of the Tourist Board, Nicky Guerrero and Monarch Managing Director, Kevin George. Commenting on the new flight schedule, The Minister noted that the Government is delighted to have worked with the Airline to make this service a reality. He added, ‘this route will allow for greater opportunities in leisure and business travel to the Rock from the West Midlands and we look forward to seeing growth in this respect. The Government continues to explore additional services from the UK with the current airline partners and looks forward to expansion for the future. Gibraltar has much to offer our visitors making it an ideal short break leisure destination whilst offering business opportunities in an efficient and well-regulated environment. We look forward to working with Monarch Airlines who now offer more destinations from Gibraltar than ever before’.
Passengers on board the flight were also presented with small gifts to mark the event.
