Rock Radio​ will be the first station to launch in Gibraltar for over 50 years. The new independent local radio station will go live on Monday 1s​t October.

The station will provide listeners with an eclectic mix of entertainment and fun, Local news, events and give-a-ways will feature prominently with interaction from listeners playing an important part in the output.

Daniel Harrison, Station Director said: ​“Rock Radio has been in the planning for well over two years now, we are really excited by the response and support that we’ve had from the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority and from key business people.

"The management team at Rock Radio have over 40 years experience in broadcasting, with their work being seen and head on ITV, the BBC and commercial radio networks.

“Local radio works when it is immersed in the lives of the people it broadcasts to and Rock Radio will be doing just that. From early in the morning, until late at night, we will be reflecting the rich culture and diversity of life here in Gibraltar”

Rock Radio will have a presence at key events across the Rock and promises to cater to the needs of listeners who aren’t served by the current listening offer. They will be broadcasting live from their studios on Governors Street.

I wish the directors and staff of Rock Radio all the best of success in this venture.”

Evan Wahnon, Station Director commented: "We will also be looking for local talent, which will be trained do the highest British broadcasting standards by Neil, our station manager."

Rock Radio will launch at ​8am on Monday 1s​t October ​and will be available on 99.2 FM, Digital Radio (DAB+), online at www.rockradio.gi, via dedicated iPhone & Android mobile apps plus on TV.
