Mar 07 - GWA Celebrates International Women’s Day With #PressForProgress Theme
The Gibraltar Women’s Association (GWA) has joined the international movement this year to celebrate International Women’s Day differently by using the theme #PressForProgress. The GWA will also set up a stall at the Piazza tomorrow to mark this event.
The movement focuses on the following areas and the GWA says it will continue to forge ahead in these areas for the rest of the year:

- select women as spokespeople and leaders

- ensure credit is given for women's contributions
- celebrate women role models and their journeys
- support awards showcasing women's success
Challenging stereotypes and bias

- challenge statements that limit women
- always use inclusive language
- work to remove barriers to women's progress
- buy from retailers who position women in positive ways
The GWA is engaging with the following groups and associations to raise awareness for women's issues and celebrate International Women’s Day together in unity:
Women in Business, Gibraltar Breastfeeding Association, GIB SAMS, Public Health Gibraltar, NO Means NO and the Royal Gibraltar Police.
Tomorrow Thursday 8th March, GWA members will be available to chat throughout the event The GWA urges people to come and meet with them at the Piazza or, in event of rain, at the Parliament Lobby from 10.00am to 2pm.
