Aug 21 - HMS Penzance Arrives Tomorrow
21 August 2017
HMS Penzance will arrive in Gibraltar tomorrow for a short scheduled visit before returning to her home port at HMNB Clyde in Scotland.
Penzance is a Sandown Class minehunter whose role is to neutralise underwater threats and clear the sea-lanes for shipping. Alongside HMS Chiddingfold, she has recently been deployed on Op KIPION and has taken part in numerous mine warfare exercises with US, French and regional navies and visited 12 nations to foster strong ties between them and the UK.
With over 1,100 days providing that capability to the region, Penzance and Chiddingfold have now handed the baton on to their sister ships HMS Ledbury and HMS Blyth, who will continue to underpin the UK's wellbeing with their very capable mine hunters.
