The Gibraltar Port Authority (GPA) was represented at the European Harbour Masters’ Conference held in Tanger Med Port from 10th to 12th May.
Senior Port Officer, Ricky Requena, and Dock Controller, Stefan Rothwell attended the conference, which provided the opportunity for the exchange of views on current issues of interest to European ports, updates on developments, and building on the network of contacts across the shipping community.
Port officials from the regional ports were also able to discuss the fundamental subject of the Strait of Gibraltar marine traffic, communications and coordination. The delegates were also given a tour of the recently built Tanger Med container trans-shipment terminal and large port.
GPA CEO and Captain of the Port, Bob Sanguinetti said: "The importance of participation at important conferences like these to ensure that our staff is kept aware of regional and international trends and developments and to also be able to share our own experiences and plans with the wider shipping community."
