Mar 02 - Minister For Health Visits Calpe House
The Minister with responsibility for Health, Dr John Cortes, last week visited Calpe House in London where he met some patients and relatives. He also visited the new Calpe House at Norfolk Square, accompanied by Gibraltar Representative in London and Calpe House Trustee, Albert Poggio. Dr Cortes inspected the works being carried out to restore and upgrade the new premises and discussed plans with the contractors.
Dr Cortes said: "It will be emotional to leave the old Calpe House but the new premises will be a massive step forward in the wellbeing of future patients and relatives. The works to this listed building are progressing very fast and very well, and you can already get a feel for the larger, more comfortable space, with much natural lighting. There's a great deal still to do, but I can say that the support the Trust is getting from the community in its fundraising is well justified. It is a project of which all of Gibraltar will justly be proud".
