Jul 29 - Feetham Condemns “Inhumane” Queues
A statement from the GSD:
The GSD Opposition condemns the inhumane and unprecedented seven hour queues at the frontier over the weekend. The GSD would also like to thank all the essential services and members of the public who have been helping people stuck in these queues.
The Leader of the Opposition Daniel Feetham said 'The Spanish Government either does not understand, or does not seem care about the fact, that the vast majority of people directly affected by these inhumane queues are Spanish citizens, many of which come to Gibraltar to earn a living. This kind of policy will get the Spanish Government nowhere. It represents an unfortunate return to a policy that has failed in the past. Speaking to members of essential services and the public at the frontier, we were told stories of unnecessary human suffering caused to elderly people, pregnant women and families with young children. Quite frankly it's appalling. I just hope that the Spanish Government sees sense and also the futility of this.'
