Mar 03 - Private Sector Workers And Pensioners Association To Increase Pressure On Government

03 March 2017

Earlier this week, the Gibraltar Private Sector Workers & Pensioners Association held a public meeting in a packed Charles Hunt Room at the John Mackintosh Hall.

The audience was updated on the association’s numerous efforts over the past six years to lobby the Government to fulfil its manifesto commitment and subsequent promises which, says the association, have not been fulfilled to date.

A spokesperson said: “After various discussions and an air of general discontent, a motion was passed empowering the committee to escalate its pressure on government in whichever manner it sees fit. The association is now planning future events and will communicate this to its members shortly.

“The committee acknowledges that this government has been the only party to have a realistic and sympathetic approach to their needs; however, it highlights that after six years of sympathy it is high time to deliver on their long standing promise.

“The Association would like to thank members of the opposition party, independent opposition member, representatives from GGCA union and other associations that took an interest in attending this meeting.

“Over eighty people young and old, signed on last night to become the association’s latest members; highlighting the issue of the amount of elderly and young people which currently are, and will be affected by this issue.”
