Nov 16 - GSD: “So Much For A Clean Election Campaign”
The GSD has noted comments made during the GSLP’s public meeting last week.
The party highlights the following quote from Joe Bossano’s address:
“This election campaign is not about who will win. It’s about which of the three idiots on the other side will be the three worse idiots left out.”
The GSD says it understands that Mr Bossano also suggested that, if an LNG power station carried a risk, he would have put it in Irish Town, hinting he would be happy to blow up Sir Peter Caruana’s private home.
The party also notes that ex-teacher Stephen Linares said that his party needed to “give the GSD a great beating so that they go away and never come back”. The GSD says that this is “advocating a single party state devoid of democracy or any opposition as in North Korea.”
A statement from the GSD concluded: “These words were met with smiles, laughs and agreement not only from his party supporters, but also from the other GSLP Liberal candidates.
“When the Chief Minister instructed the Governor to dissolve Parliament, Fabian Picardo said he would be conducting a clean election campaign, free from the personal insults and acrimony, which have characterised the GSLP’s term of office for the last four years.
“The GSD asks the electorate to ask itself prior to voting whether this is the sort of government they want in Gibraltar into the future.”
