May 21 – Sponsorship For Special Olympics Athlete
A Special Olympics equestrian athlete has received a sponsorship of £1,500 as part of the Sponsor An Athlete scheme.
John Joshua Buttigieg was given the sponsorship by the team at Lombard Odier & Cie (Gibraltar Ltd).
He will be one of 22 athletes and six unified partners who will be competing at the Special Olympics World Summer Games held in Los Angeles this year, taking part in aquatics, athletics, bocce, bowling, equestrian, golf, open water swimming and 7-a-side unified football.
Annie Risso, Programme Chief Executive, said: “This will be the largest sporting event anywhere in the world this year.
“The teams will enter the L.A. Coliseum home of the 1932 and 1984 International Olympic Games and the whole event will be covered by ESPN worldwide television.
“This community has always rallied to our cause and with several athletes still in need of sponsorship please do get in touch if you can help.”
