Mar 11 – Netball Under-17s Take Silver European Championships
The Gibraltar Under-17 Netball team took silver at the European Championships in Hull this weekend.
This is the full report provided by the Gibraltar Netball Association:
The girls representing Gibraltar are a young, less-experienced squad and this was evident especially in the first match. However they progressed through the competition well and won the next match which was an excellent result and shows that they can do well. The tournament has been a great learning experience especially as Gibraltar will hold the U17 European Championships next year. The girls will hopefully have more confidence having played at an international tournament previously and achieved great results.
Netball Scotland took the Silver medal in the first division competition at the Netball European Championships in Hull this weekend. Gibraltar have a strong partnership with Netball Scotland and they have been working with Gibraltar Netball with coaching courses, umpiring and helping us achieve a higher level of Netball in Gibraltar. Things are going very well and we are very excited to carry on working with them. It was nice to meet the team and share the experience.
The GNA are very proud of the squad’s achievements. The girls put a lot of hard work into their training and they should all be very proud. On behalf of the GNA we would like to say a special thank you to the team coaches, Keisha Moreno and Janice Moreno for getting the girls ready for the tournament not only physically but mentally too. A big thank you goes out to Geraldine Rodriguez, Moira Gomes and Suzette Gallighan and the friends and family who accompanied the girls on this experience. (Pic below: Gib team with Scottish buddies)
